Information technology (I.T) arm of the Indian Railways, on Wednesday Oct 10,2012 launched RailRadar, which allows the public to track train movement. This is probably the coolest thing to have happened to the Indian railways. For those who loves to travel by train & want to get update & exact location of train without doing too much work. Indian Railways has just launched RailRadar.

What is RailRadar & how it works:
RailRadar uses Google maps to track trains in real-time. The service is only available on 6,500 trains for now, but will be expanded in the future.It works on color system, it means Trains that are running on time are displayed in blue and those running late are shown in red. Clicking on a train shows the status of the train, and also the route.

 

How To Use RailRadar:
RailRadar provide you facility to search train by both name or station. On the screen right, your left, you will see, the option to search for trains. Click on it and type in the train number or name and it will show you exact location of train & if it’s not running it will show that. You can also find trains by entering the name of the station.
You can also click on the train to see and a small pop-up will appear showing what time the train started,where it currently is and the status of the train.

The opening screen of Rail Radar has a map of India that gives you the details of the trains running. On the top right is a display that shows the number of trains tracked at that point of time and the percentageof trains that are on time.The map can be zoomed in or out by using the mouse’s scroll wheel or by clicking the ‘+’ or ’-’ icons on the left. The left panel also has a search facility where you can look for running information on specific trains

You can also enjoy the service on your mobile browser.
